SKINDRED's BENJI WEBBE Joins DEFENCES For 'More Of Us (Than There Are Of Them)', A Defiant Protest Anthem

September 8, 2026

Following millions of streams, multiple sold-out headline tours, and appearances at major festivals, including Download, Takedown, Turbulence and Burn It Down, alternative metallers DEFENCES have teamed up with SKINDRED singer Benji Webbe for "More Of Us (Than There Are Of Them)". As one of the scene's most recognizable figures, Webbe joins DEFENCES on a fiery track inspired by the growing outrage, animosity, and political discontent of our time.

DEFENCES singer Cherry Duesbury says: "One of the tipping points for me was seeing the first wave of ICE abductions taking place and the slew of public scandals that followed. With my immediately family living in a majority-Republican state in the U.S., this hit home for me and struck terror in my heart more than previous news stories had."

She continues: "'More Of Us (Than There Are Of Them)' came from my desire to shed a light on the growing collective consciousness awakening of recent years to combat this as the next generation enters the workforce, world leaders continue to reveal their true nature and dictators and tyrants operate above the law in plain view. I've been inspired by the growing feeling that more and more of us are asking ourselves, 'Why is this the way things are?' I wanted to write a song that expressed my feeling that we've reached a point of no return, that the public is finally turning on the rampant institutional corruption. These whispered questions talk of upheaval and, ultimately, rebellion, and this song means to stand as an anthem as those whispers turn into screams."

Known for their eclectic blend of synth-heavy melodies and crushing riffs, fronted by the distinctive tones of singer Cherry Duesbury, DEFENCES have taken modern metalcore to the next level. Across a decade, two EPs, and three LPs, themes of introspection, self-reflection, and inner strength remain front and center — delivering self-acceptance-core at its finest.

The British group has built a formidable live reputation across the U.K. and rest of Europe, sharing stages with RØRY, FUTURE PALACE, TRASH BOAT and REDHOOK, alongside selling out their own headline shows and landing major festival slots. With over 15 million streams to date and features across flagship streaming playlists, DEFENCES continue their steady rise.

DEFENCES are:

Cherry Duesbury - Vocals
William Young - Keys, Vocals
Calum Wilmot - Guitar
Kyle Parke - Drums
